'Barring a crazy twist': Chelsea have now 'failed' in their bid to sign key deadline day target - journalist

They saying ‘you can’t win em all’ often does the rounds and it looks like that’s what Chelsea are going to have to accept on deadline day.

Chelsea have had a hugely successful transfer window in moving players on and bringing in an abundance of young talent into the squad once more.

Enzo Maresca is the man tasked with knitting it all together and he’s going to have more new players to deal with come training next week.

Chelsea have agreed a deal to sign Jadon Sancho late in the day, while Raheem Sterling also looks like he is on his way to Arsenal as well.

Still, while Chelsea are landing Sancho, it doesn’t look like they’re going to be getting everyone they wanted.

And that includes Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen.

Chelsea fail in bid to sign Victor Osimhen from Napoli

Victor Osimhen has been in the news all day as different reports suggest different things.

It was reported initially that Napoli had agreed a £67m deal with Al-Ahli and that Osimhen would be on his way to Saudi Arabia.

However, Osimhen himself was thought to be waiting for Chelsea, with Chelsea also apparently making one last push not so long ago.

But now, according to Ben Jacobs, the deal looks completely dead in the water.

Taking to X to update the situation, Jacobs admitted that barring a late twist, Osimhen will remain in Naples.

Will Victor Osimhen ever get his move from Napoli?

The likelihood now is that Osimhen accepts the mega money on offer in Saudi and simply goes and has a go for a bit.

But really, he is too good a player to be moving over there and after numerous windows suggesting he’d be on the move to a big club, he’s now just looking like being another player in the Saudi Pro League on huge sums of cash.

It really is a shame and while he will get his move, to answer the question above, it’s not the dream move so many thought he’d get.

For Chelsea, they’ll have to just accept they missed one for once. But of all the players they did land, Osimhen would have trumped the lot.
