Willie Miller was unsure whether Rangers defender Leon Balogun won the ball in a last-ditch challenge which left the Aberdeen supporters raging with referee John Beaton.
The Gers have gone in at the break at Pittodrie 1-0 down but things could have been much worse after a missed penalty and a potential red card was waved away.
This came as Jamie McGrath sent a searching long ball over the top of the Light Blues’ defence which Ester Sokler latched onto before being taken down by Balogun.
The Nigerian saw no punishment as Beaton signalled that the defender had won the ball, something that Miller was unsure about.
Speaking live on BBC Radio Scotland (8:26pm, 30 October), he said: “I’m not 100 per cent sure, did he get a touch? If he did then he’s going to get away with it and if he didn’t then he’s taken Sokler out. I’m sure they will check that, he’s in on goal.”
After seeing a replay, Miller still wasn’t sold: “I’m not sure if he touches it first, I think Sokler gets a touch on it and it takes it into Balogun. I think it is one of those ones which are debatable. They’ve had a good look at it and there’s nothing being done.”
Aberdeen fans outraged by John Beaton decision v Rangers
It is safe to say that it has been far from an ideal first half for Philippe Clement and his side against their Scottish Premiership rivals.
As it stands the Gers will fall nine points behind the Dons in the table which is not a good reflection of the Belgian manager after already coming under pressure this season.
There was a general lack of threat from the away side at Pittodrie which saw Aberdeen deserve to take the lead on the night.
They should have had two if McGrath’s penalty had been better but Rangers fans will be delighted to see Jack Butland make the save.
This delight was brought back down to earth somewhat when Ross McCausland’s tap-in was ruled out for offside late in the first half.
It has not been 45 minutes which the Gers’ supporters will be keen to remember so the performance in the second half must be better.
With that being said, there have been some lucky moments which has kept the Light Blues alive in the clash.
