Billionaire only wants to buy 45% of Everton, he would still take control - report

Dan Friedkin has made an offer for 45 per cent of Everton to Farhad Moshiri as he looks to confirm his takeover, according to La Gazzetta Dello Sport.

The Italian newspaper has reported in its print edition [9 June, pg 16] that the billionaire would still take a controlling stake in the club with this move.

Friedkin also owns AS Roma and Cannes in France after being named by Sky Sports News (8 June) as the latest party to show an interest in purchasing shares at Goodison Park for his footballing galaxy.

The search for new ownership at Goodison Park has been a long and drawn-out process which has seen various parties interested.

Moshiri has done his utmost to move the club on to a new owner but his work has been done without any positive results.

It all began with 777 Partners who appeared to have been moving closer to confirming the purchase of the club before the Toffees owner pulled the plug.

Their financial issues with clubs they already owned, like Standard Liege, became an issue and new options had to be considered.

Friedkin already owns Roma which shows his prior experience of running a football club which can only be a positive thing.

Although the ownership situation has dragged on, Moshiri can not now rush into moving the club on to the American.

After taking a year to make a decision and await bids from positive prospective owners, he must do his due diligence once again.

In other Everton news, recent takeover developments have sparked calls to remove Moshiri from the board.
