Burnley table bid for Rangers-linked attacker ahead of transfer deadline - report

Burnley have made a bid for Rangers-linked Morgan Whittaker and it has been turned down by Plymouth Argyle, according to Plymouth Live.

The news outlet reported on 29 August that the Championship club have been consistent throughout the window that they will not be selling the 23-year-old attacker.

Rangers must find an alternative quickly

Plymouth Argyle’s firm stance on not selling Whittaker, even in the face of substantial bids from Burnley and Gers, underscores the strategic importance of retaining key players late in the transfer window.

With the deadline approaching, Plymouth’s decision is likely influenced by the lack of time to secure a suitable replacement for the 23-year-old, whose contributions are pivotal for their campaign.

This late in the transfer market, finding a player of Whittaker’s calibre, who can integrate seamlessly into the squad, is challenging.

For Rangers, this situation necessitates a swift pivot towards alternative targets.

The urgency to bolster their squad before the window closes means they must now accelerate negotiations with other prospects or risk entering the season without adequately addressing their needs. Whittaker’s potential departure could disrupt Plymouth’s season, a risk they’re unwilling to take without a viable substitute.

In other Rangers news, a low fee has been agreed for another Gers first-team ace to leave the club permanently.
