Carragher tears into ‘Embarrassing’ Tottenham v Chelsea moment – ‘Schoolboy’

Jamie Carragher has torn Marc Cucurella to shreds after his second slip of the game led to Tottenham scoring a second against Chelsea in their Premier League clash on Sunday.

The left-back was one-on-one with surprise starter Brennan Johnson on the left-hand side of the pitch but somehow managed to lose his footing, which allowed Spurs to double their lead.

The game was 2-1 at half-time in favour of Ange Postecoglou’s men with both Pedro Porro and Son Heung-min both showing why they were chosen to start.

Speaking live on Sky Sports Premier League (8 December, 16:40pm), Carragher shared his thoughts on the Spaniard’s moment of calamity.

“[Marc] Cucurella is coming to the bench, I don’t blame him, it’s your own fault son,” Carragher said.

“Was he blaming the kitman? Absolute schoolboy stuff, embarrassing.”

Tottenham need to shore up their defensive line against Chelsea soon

Spurs started the London derby by announcing a fairly strong starting XI with both Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven among others coming into the team.

However, 15 minutes into the clash the Argentina international was forced off the pitch, which saw Radu Dragusin come into the fold.

More or less as soon as the Romania international came on, the Blues found themselves on the attack and Jadon Sancho, who was on the edge of the penalty box, managed to win Chelsea a goal back and turn the game into a real contest.

Spurs are coming off the back of a rather surprising 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth on Thursday 5 December and Postecoglou would have no doubt wanted his team to get back to winning ways.

Of course, there are still 45 minutes left, but at the moment, it feels like Enzo Maresca’s men could find their way back into the game and perhaps take the lead which, obviously, wouldn’t be an ideal situation for Spurs or Postecoglou.

In other Tottenham news, the club have picked their favourite option to replace Postecoglou in a sack decision.
