Chelsea star reacts as fan calls him ‘fraud’ after being ‘pocketed’ by Manchester United defender
The winger couldn't resist hitting back...
Noni Madueke has hit back after a Chelsea supporter who waited ‘two hours’ to meet him suggested he was a ‘fraud’ and needed to ‘touch the bench’ after being ‘pocketed’ by Manchester United’s Noussair Mazraoui.
The Chelsea winger enjoyed a strong start to the season under new manager Enzo Maresca, netting four times in his opening two appearances against Servette and Wolves in the Europa Conference League and Premier League respectively.
And while Madueke has added just one more goal to his tally this term, a second-half equaliser against Nottingham Forest a month ago, Maresca has keep faith with the 22-year-old on the right side of his attack.
But an ineffective showing in the Blues’ 1-1 draw with United saw Madueke replaced by Mykhailo Mudryk in the 71st minute at Old Trafford and there have been some calls for the former PSV Eindhoven man to be benched against Arsenal this weekend.
One Chelsea fan, who goes by the username @yusuf2x._, took to TikTok to voice his grumblings about Madueke’s recent performances and the video got some traction on the social media platform – so much so that the England international got wind of it and issued a response.
‘I can’t be the first person to point this out, how Madueke has been stinking out the place as of recent,’ @yusuf2x._ said in the 30-second clip entitled ‘Fraud watch??’.
‘Ever since that hat-trick against Wolves, please tell me one thing he’s done since then.
‘And you can’t even call this reactionary. Last week he got a pocketed by Lewis Hall, this week by Mazraoui who is not even a left-back. What is this?
‘I think this is all because this guy’s getting too comfortable being a starter. This guy needs to touch the bench.
‘Don’t worry, don’t worry. We’ve got our starboy [Estevao] coming next year. Madueke, your time is coming.
‘You better start acting up because the next coming of Neymar is on the way.’
Perhaps unsurprisingly, Madueke didn’t take too kindly to the criticism, telling @yusuf2x._ to ‘speak up’ next time he wants a selfie after a game.
‘[Three laughing emojis] broo next time you want a picture speak up a bit don’t be shy,’ Madueke replied.
But @yusuf2x._ still wasn’t done, claiming he waited ‘two hours’ to meet Madueke and ‘begging’ the attacker to ‘drop another stinker’.
‘Listen here, Noni. I was meant to be a lowkey hater but from today you will see how much I hate you,’ he said in a follow-up video.
‘And to think I waited two hours to come out of that stadium to comment this. Alright…
‘I beg you drop another stinker and you won’t see the end of it. Trust me.’
Chelsea will look to continue their 100 per cent record in the Europa Conference League when they play host to Noah at Stamford Bridge on Thursday night.
The west London giants find themselves at the top of the table after a pair of comfortable wins over Gent and Panathinaikos.
Maresca will have one eye on Chelsea’s derby clash with Arsenal this weekend and is likely to rest a number of his regular starters against the Armenian outfit, who have picked up three points from their two opening games.
