Chris Jack shares if Rangers will complete any new transfers whilst away at pre-season camp

There have been no suggestions Rangers will complete any new transfers during the remainder of their pre-season camp, according to Chris Jack.

The journalist reported via the Rangers Review YouTube channel (12 July, 5:30) that Philippe Clement is still not expected to make any additions to his squad while the first team are in the Netherlands.

Nils Koppen has joined the playing and coaching staff for their pre-season camp and while incoming transfers are still being worked on [Four Lads, 11 July] no signings appear to be imminent while the team are away from Glasgow.

Speaking on the Rangers Review, Jack said “As we mentioned on the show the last couple of days, Nils Koppen is over here.

“As we reported on the five things after the Standard Liege game, I said in that piece I don’t expect Rangers to do anything imminently and I think that’s shown to be the case.

“We’re now 48 hours on from that. There have been no suggestions of anybody else coming in during this camp.”

Are Rangers close to any new signings during the summer transfer window?

While Rangers fans will be disappointed to hear that nothing has changed on the transfer front in the last 24 hours or so, it was always going to be unlikely that the Gers would make loads of additions while away from Ibrox.

Although Clement’s squad still needs a fair few new faces to truly close the gap to Celtic at the top of the Premiership next term, there is still plenty of time in the transfer window for those sorts of deals to be done.

The priority for the Light Blues at this moment in time has to be clearing some space on their wage bill and raising some funds through player sales as they have failed to shift a number of their big earners out of the exit door.

Hopefully, once Clement, Koppen and the team return to Ibrox in the next couple of days, transfer talks will once again heat up and players can start moving both in and out of Glasgow sooner rather than later.
