'Alarm bells are ringing' - Michael Gannon worried for Rangers after what he's seen

Michael Gannon believes “alarm bells are ringing” for Rangers with multiple issues emerging at Ibrox ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

While Philippe Clement has already added Jefte, Oscar Cortes, Clinton Nsiala, Connor Barron, Liam Kelly and Hamza Igamane to the Gers squad, he states that there is still “major work” to be done this summer.

Gannon also cites the ongoing Ibrox redevelopment saga as an issue for the club, with the Gers set to move to Hampden Park for the opening five home matches of their campaign [The Scottish Sun].

Speaking via the Daily Record on Saturday (13 July), he said: “Alarm bells are ringing all over the shop.

“The Rangers squad still requires major work in terms of incomings and outgoings and punters have every right to be pulling their hair out over the stadium carry-on.”

Rangers facing multiple issues ahead of next season

Gannon is right. Though Clement has added multiple exciting names to the squad ahead of the next campaign, there are still multiple names who look to have one foot out the exit door without a destination in mind.

The likes of James Tavernier, Connor Goldson, Tom Lawrence, Todd Cantwell and Cyriel Dessers could all add significant figures to the current transfer budget, but there seems to be little movement on any of these potential exits.

In addition to this, failure to redevelop the Copland Road Stand in time for next season has added some unneeded tension at Ibrox, with one senior figure being fired over the whole fiasco [Rangers Review].

Rangers have plenty to do in such a short amount of time, especially if the main goal is to enact revenge on Old Firm rivals Celtic after being pipped to the Scottish Premiership title last term.

Of course, Clement will never admit that is one of his main objectives, but fans will be concerned if they are unable to compete with Brendan Rodgers’ side next season.

In other Rangers news, Philippe Clement could already have a Ryan Jack replacement at Ibrox as his rebuild continues.
