Senegal have confirmed Iliman Ndiaye missed their most recent training session as Everton await to learn the extent of the latest injury concern.
The 24-year-old left the pitch for the national side with a suspected injury in the 4-0 win against Malawi on Thursday [10 October].
Senegal technical director Mayacine Mar has raised fresh concerns by confirming to DSports [13 October], he is unsure whether Ndiaye will recover from the suspected thigh issue in time to feature against Malawi for the second Africa Cup of Nations clash.
He said: “Iliman remained at the hotel under medical observation, while we wait to see what happens tomorrow.”
Everton could face Ipswich Town without Iliman Ndiaye
Sean Dyche will be reeling from this latest injury blow. The Everton boss is facing a crucial period that will clarify his long-term future at the club.
The 53-year-old has been under constant scrutiny at Goodison Park this season for his side’s performances and, while the Blues have remained unbeaten in their last three Premier League outings, speculation regarding who will succeed Dyche continues to persist.
Ndiaye has been one of the standout performers for the Toffees this season. His performances on the left flank have allowed Dwight McNeil to operate in a central role behind the striker, offering a new dimension to the attack.
Ipswich have proven hard to beat at Portman Road this season, barring a 2-0 loss to Liverpool on the opening day, with Kieran McKenna’s side holding Fulham and Aston Villa to a share of the spoils.
Everton will need to be at their best in what could potentially prove to be a relegation six-pointer towards the end of the year.
Dyche must put some daylight between his side and the drop zone to stand a chance of retaining his position at the Goodison Park helm once The Friedkin Group complete the prospected takeover.
For the time being, the potential injury to Ndiaye seems minor and the forward still stands a chance of featuring at Portman Road on Saturday [19 October].
Whether or not Dyche chooses to risk the forward will depend on his condition when he returns to Merseyside.
