Confirmed: Rangers Women announce four Ibrox exits in new pre-season update

Rangers Women have confirmed four permanent departures after Jo Potter’s side returned to pre-season training in Glasgow.

The Light Blues announced in an official statement on their website (5 July) that Kayla Hardie, Jenna Ferguson, Lucy Inman and academy graduate Georgia Gray have all departed Ibrox in search of new opportunities.

Hardie has joined Hearts, Ferguson has made the permanent move to Partick Thistle having spent last season with the club and Inman has joined up with newly promoted Queen’s Park who will compete in the Scottish Women’s Premier League.

Gray, who spent the majority of last season recovering from an injury will join Ferguson at Patrick Thistle, bringing an end to her time with the Gers having made her league debut back in 2022.

Will Rangers Women beat Celtic to the Scottish Women’s Premier League title?

Unfortunately, unlike in the men’s game, women’s football is still based around players having incredibly short contracts and that means that there was always likely to be a bit of clearout at Ibrox this summer.

Jo Potter has made a number of additions to her first-team squad as she looks to close the gap to Celtic at the top of the Premier League and that would have meant that all four of these players would have struggled to break into the first-team.

While it is a shame that they have not been able to continue their careers in Glasgow, the Light Blues have at least helped them continue their journey in the Scottish game and ensured that they will continue to play regularly.

Hopefully, each and every one of the players to depart Ibrox this summer will go on to have successful careers and who knows, if they continue to develop they could return to Rangers in the future as players have in the past.

Whether or not Potter will make one or two further additions to her squad this summer remains to be seen, but with pre-season now up and running, the focus will be on beating Celtic to the title.
