Dan Bardell shares verdict on new Everton kit deal after Aston Villa issues

Dan Bardell has suggested the financial aspect of the Castore deal with Everton is positive despite issues with Aston Villa last season.

The Toffees struck a club record-breaking deal [The Telegraph] with the kit providers on Friday (14 June) worth in excess of £20million a year.

This has at least doubled the previous four-year deal with Hummel, with whom Everton were making a reported £10m a season by comparison.

Despite the positivity around the financial side of the deal, there is some negativity around the supplier after problems with previous clubs.

However, Sky Sports journalist Bardell believes there is plenty to be happy with.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Bardell said: “Castore are trying to rebuild their reputation at the moment. I know about what was going on with Aston Villa and Castore and it really wasn’t great.

The players were sweating while wearing the kits and the material faults that they held their hands up to. Their deal with Villa got ripped up and they’ve also lost Newcastle recently to Adidas as well.

For Everton, the deal is great for them because they need any financial deal that they can so maximising that for a kit deal is good news for them.

It isn’t going to transform how they can operate but every club is realising that every million pound helps at the moment, so for Everton it’s definitely good news.

Everton financially benefit from Castore deal

There is no secret about Everton and the financial issues that have plagued them over the course of the Premier League season.

This resulted in various points deductions, which Sean Dyche’s side were able to overcome and survive with time to spare.

With Dan Friedkin seeking a takeover at Goodison Park and set to enter a period of exclusivity [The Telegraph], these issues could become a thing of the past.

On top of that, the deal with their new kit providers is certainly going to help to add some stability to the club over their time with the Toffees.

Hummel certainly made some good-looking shirts but with the potential to double their income, the design is somewhat secondary.
