David Edgar: Rangers hold talks with new attacker as transfer interest emerges

Rangers are talking to Wolfsburg winger Vaclav Cerny and are interested in signing him in the summer transfer window, according to David Edgar.

Speaking on the Heart and Hand Patreon page (24 July) Edgar reported that while the structure of a potential deal has not yet been confirmed, the Light Blues’ interest in the attacker has been confirmed.

Gers supporters had their interest perked when the 26-year-old reportedly followed Rangers on social media [The Sun, 24 July] and it appears as though he could be heading to Glasgow, although a deal isn’t complete.

Speaking on the Heart and Hand, Edgar said: “It looks as though he could be on his way to Rangers. He is a right-footed left-winger and a decent attacking player by the looks of things.

“I don’t have any details at the moment on deal structure in terms of how it would be put together, is it a loan to buy, is it a permanent transfer, is it a loan? We don’t know this at the moment.

“The deal is not complete but the interest is confirmed, he is a player Rangers are talking to and interested in bringing to the club.”

Will Rangers sign Vaclav Cerny amid Ibrox transfer speculation?

The Light Blues needed further attacking additions and while most supporters would have been crying out for a new number nine rather than another wide midfielder, Cerny would certainly be an exciting signing.

The 26-year-old featured at this summer’s European Championship and while he only played in one of the Czech Republic’s fixtures, he has shown throughout his career that he can be incredibly effective at any level.

Cerny would add some added depth to the Gers’ wide options which will be required as speculation continues to surround Scott Wright and Rabbi Matondo’s futures in Glasgow beyond the end of the summer.

Hopefully, the finishing touches can be put on the deal sooner rather than later. The news that the Gers are once again interested in adding to their squad may mean a few more exits are closer than ever before.
