Doctor: Rangers likely have made mistakes behind the scenes as player seems stuck in injury loop

Oscar Cortes’ injury issues could be attributed to the way he has been handled by the Rangers medical staff, according to Dr Rajpal Brar

The injury expert claims that the club may have looked to rush the Colombian back when he was not necessarily ready to make a first-team return.

He has advised the 20-year-old to focus on his rehab day by day and not look to rush anything in terms of his recovery.

Discussing his situation exclusively with Ibrox News, Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said: “The club are using a system that works by examining the players’ injury histories and potentially finding out other information about habits and such that can inform you about their potential robustness and ability to not miss games.

The advice I would give to Cortes is simply to focus day by day on your rehab and not rush it.

Sometimes players who haven’t been injured in the past feel like they need to rush back into things and that ends up hurting them even more so there could be mistakes behind the scenes leaving him stuck in a re-injury loop.

Rangers may have put undue pressure on Oscar Cortes

There is a possibility that the club have rushed through his rehab in the past and that’s led to issues with his fitness.

In such situations, it’s hard to blame the players as they’re unaware as to whether or not they’re capable of making a return without any risk of re-injury.

Hopefully, the club will use this as a case study to be more vigilant when they bring back other players from an injury setback.

In other Rangers news, the injury sustained by a first-team player is worse than first expected and it will keep out until mid-December.
