Doctor: Tottenham star may be ruled out for over eight weeks due to 'Major' injury setback

Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario may be ruled out for longer than eight weeks after his ankle surgery, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that while the typical lay-off for an ankle or foot surgery is six to eight weeks, the return could differ based on certain intangibles.

Spurs confirmed on their website on 25 November that he needed to undergo an operation after the injury sustained in the 4-0 win against Manchester City on Saturday.

Discussing the state of play with Vicario exclusively with Tottenham News, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, shared his verdict.

“It was a major injury concern which needed surgical intervention,” he said.

“He’s unlikely to return before the end of 2024.

“The information released by the club is very general but typically foot/ankle fractures are around six to eight weeks.

“It may even be more than that or less than that depending on how he responds to rehab and how serious it was, to begin with.”

Guglielmo Vicario will be a major absence for Tottenham

The 28-year-old has been a mainstay for Spurs since he moved to North London.

He fits perfectly into Ange Postecoglou’s system and is an ideal keeper for the Australian.

Vicario has played 13 league games this season and while he’s kept just three clean sheets, his overall impact cannot be explained in statistics, and it’s clear that he will be a huge miss for the club.
