Dominic Solanke has lofty ambitions for his time at Tottenham Hotspur and is aiming to fire them back into the Champions League this season.
The striker has made a strong start to life in North London having slotted perfectly into Ange Postecoglou’s team and netted three goals in total.
The 27-year-old has had to work really hard to return to the top of English football but having impressed on the south coast with Bournemouth he earned a £65 million move to Spurs.
Now he is back at an elite club, he is looking to do big things and has made a very bold statement about his ambitions.
Dominic Solanke’s Champions League claim
Solanke has said he wants to be back in the Champions League with Tottenham next season but his ambition does not end there.
The England striker wants to win the trophy at some point revealing that is one of the big reasons he came to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Solanke told the Daily Mail: “Being at a club like Tottenham, that’s what we all want to be a part of. We’re in the Europa League, but the Champions League is where everyone wants to be.
“Hopefully we can reach that next season, and even better to win that. I love the way we play. It’s one of the reasons I came here.”
Solanke has played just 42 minutes of Champions League football across his career but as a junior, he was a real star in the youth competition.
In 2015, aged just 17, the forward played a starring role in helping Chelsea win the UEFA Youth League getting 12 goals and six assists in nine appearances. Now, he wants to return to the senior competition and replicate his dominance from youth level.
Dominic Solanke is the perfect Ange Postecoglou striker
Solanke and Postecoglou has been the perfect player-manager combination with the striker being such a great fit for the Australian’s system.
His ability to press relentlessly throughout the game and bring others into play has been the two standout features of his game since arriving in North London.
A presence up top is exactly what Spurs have missed following the departure of Harry Kane and Solanke has certainly brought that back.
