Armando Broja and Youssef Chermiti will not be ready to feature in an Everton friendly during the international break, Sean Dyche has confirmed.
Neither attacker has featured for the Toffees so far this season, with Chermiti picking up an injury ahead of the campaign while Broja was brought in on loan with the knowledge of his lengthy setback.
It is understood that the latter is set to return to full training after the international break, but neither will be available for a behind-closed-doors friendly during the upcoming two-week break.
Speaking in his press conference, quoted by the Liverpool Echo [10 November], Dyche said: “They’re not quite ready for that yet, so Broja and Youssef being the main two.
“Seamus [Coleman] has the hamstring so we are going to have to settle that down. The others we will have to be careful with.”
Everton players close in on injury return after international break
Dyche’s defence was one of the biggest plusses at Goodison Park last season, with only Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool conceding fewer goals in the Premier League.
This season has seen a rather drastic change and it cannot be a total coincidence that it has coincided with Jarrad Branthwaite’s injury, leaving James Tarkowski and Michael Keane in defence.
However, with three clean sheets in their last five games, Dyche’s side finally look to be gaining control, but that still leaves issues in the final third for the Toffees.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s goals have unsurprisingly dried up once again, and while Broja was signed to reinforce the attacking lineup, he has yet to make an impact since arriving from Chelsea in the summer.
Chermiti also arrived at Goodison Park in the summer of 2023 with plenty of expectations on his shoulders but his injury setbacks have only seen him make 20 appearances to date.
In other Everton news, the Toffees want to sign a World Cup winner, with his former team eyeing a “bombshell” transfer.
