Everton have moved ahead of their Premier League rivals after holding talks to sign Edoardo Bove from Roma this summer, according to HITC.

Graeme Bailey has reported (19 June) that the Toffees are “advanced” in their pursuit of signing the “all-action enforcer”.

The Italian is valued at around £18million, with Bournemouth the closest challenger to Everton to signing him from the Serie A side.

The Cherries felt like they have an advantage as their president of football operations, Thiago Pinto, who has worked with Roma before.

Leicester City, Brentford and Fulham are also said to be “admirers” of the 22-year-old and are interested in signing him this summer.

The Toffees are in need of a potential rebuild this window if they are to lose some key names like Jarrad Branthwaite and Amadou Onana.

With Farhad Moshiri in charge of the club, the financial struggles have been clear for all to see and have taken their toll on their league progress.

Moving further into the transfer window, the sale of a star will be necessary if Sean Dyche wants to make any new signings.

If Onana was to depart then Bove may prove to be a positive replacement option due to his midfield versatility.

It is a deal which could also be made easier by the potential takeover from Dan Friedkin, who also owns Roma, the current club of Bove.

If the takeover bid goes through then it is possible that Everton would be pushed to the front of the line in pursuit of the Italian ahead of Bournemouth.

In other Everton news, Amadou Onana’s transfer value has plummeted amid Arsenal links.
