Everton will receive a “big” profit and sustainability (PSR) boost from the sale of Amadou Onana to Aston Villa.
That is the view of finance expert Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider the Merseyside giants could be looking at a potential PSR profit of between £25-28million once the Belgium international completes his move to Villa Park.
Football Insider revealed on 15 July Onana had agreed personal terms with Villa as he prepares to make his £50million move to the club.
The midfielder has been linked with several top clubs in recent months, but it appears as though the West Midlands giants are now set to secure his signature.
Everton are ready to cash in on the 22-year-old in a bid to help their financial situation, having been deducted eight points last season for breaching the Premier League’s spending rules.
The Merseysiders were believed to be close to breaching the PSR rules again in 2023-24, but they are expected to fall on the right side of the line provided they don’t lose their capitalisation case.
Everton set for significant PSR boost after Amadou Onana sale
Borson revealed the Onana deal will provide Sean Dyche’s side with a healthy PSR profit at the start of the new financial year.
He told Football Insider: “It will be a big boost because the profit is quite big on him.
“He’s probably got book value of around just over £20million, maybe £22million.
“It may be that the initial payment is not £50million and is a bit lower.
“But if it was £50million, you are looking at a £25-28million PSR profit straight in.”
