Everton dressing room news: 'Jarrad Branthwaite plotting move'

Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite could be plotting a move away from Goodison Park amid uncertainty over the club’s long-term future.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson believes that the 22-year-old knows “he can move to better clubs.”

The England international was linked with a move away from the Merseyside giants during the summer transfer window, with Man United making multiple bids for his services.

Football Insider revealed that United are being tipped to line up another bid in the upcoming January transfer window, and the uncertainty over Everton’s ownership could factor into his decision-making.

Everton announced on Monday (24 September) that The Friedkin Group have reached an agreement to buy Farhad Moshiri’s 94% stake in the club.

However, the US investors had previously agreed to a deal in principle back in June before pulling out due to concerns over the money owed to 777 partners.

The Friedkin Group’s history has led to Everton fans not getting too excited until anything becomes official, and that could impact the future of star players under contract.

“You don’t escape it as a player,” Robinson told Football Insider about the Everton takeover news.

“If you’re a player at Everton, if you’re achieving to a level at Everton where you’re thinking like Jarrad Branthwaite has done, he’s going to be looking around, he’s going to want assurances as to what’s going on at the club.

“If he’s to stay at the club for his own personal development and his own future.

“Because he’s not going to want to stay at a club that’s going to be in financial restraints for the next however long, struggling to stay in the Premier League when he knows that he can move to better clubs.”
