Everton are predicted to survive relegation this season after the 3-2 loss to Bournemouth, according to the Opta Analyst.

The supercomputer has updated the predictions [2 September] after the weekend’s third round of Premier League fixtures.

Sean Dyche’s side are predicted to survive the drop this season and finish in 16th in the Premier League, despite currently sitting at the foot of the league table after losing all three of their opening fixtures.

The Blues have a 16.8 per cent chance of finishing in 16th after the Bournemouth defeat but still stand a 33.1 per cent change of relegation come May.

Will Everton survive relegation this season?

There is still light at the end of the tunnel for Everton supporters with newly promoted sides Southampton, Ipswich Town and Leicester City all predicted to be sent back down into the Championship after one season back in the English top flight.

The supercomputer has more hope for the Toffees than the fans. Dyche’s side will run it close, however, if the boss cannot turn around a horrendous start to the season wherein they have conceded 10 goals in three matches.

Tensions between the club and the fanbase have reached boiling point. A chorus of boos echoed around Goodison Park from the fans that remained for the full duration of the match following social media footage of the supporters berating the players after the 4-0 loss to Tottenham.

With a fortnight between the loss on Saturday and a trip to Aston Villa after the international break, Dyche has plenty of time to work on integrating his new signings into the fold and should have the likes of Jarrad Branthwaite and James Garner back to match fitness.

On paper, Everton have more than enough quality compared to their predicted relegation rivals and should comfortably survive the drop. The question is, however, if Dyche is the man to unlock the potential of the current squad.

That question will be answered in the coming weeks in what is a decisive period for Dyche’s future at Everton.

In other Everton news, Micah Richards believes Sean Dyche can be encouraged by signs shown in collapse v Bournemouth.
