Everton player agrees £150k+ p/w terms with new club, fee must now be agreed - report

Manchester United have agreed personal terms with the representatives of Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite, according to The Times.

The British news outlet reported via its online edition late on Thursday (13 June) that United must now agree a fee with Everton for the defender.

England international Branthwaite has emerged as a top target for the Red Devils ahead of the summer transfer window officially opening.

The report adds that the centre-back is likely to earn between £150,000 and £160,000 a week at Old Trafford.

Everton want around £70million for Branthwaite, but previous reports have suggested United have no intention of going that high with a bid.

Everton must stand firm on Jarrad Branthwaite transfer valuation

Manchester United may have reached an agreement with Branthwaite, which is of course a huge blow for Everton, but the ball is still in the Toffees’ court.

Branthwaite is not a player who will push for an exit – or at least you would hope not – and therefore only half the bargain has been complete from United’s point of view.

Everton want £70m and that has been made quite clear. Given the way these negotiations work, United will no doubt offer a sum far below that amount as an opening salvo.

It is more than likely this will drag on until the end of the window, with United ultimately having to cough up or miss out on their top defensive target.

Jarrad Branthwaite is likely to leave Everton

The Toffees know that Branthwaite is under contract at Goodison Park for years to come, so they need to stand their ground and refuse to sell for a penny less than £70m.

If United want him that bad, they know what to do.
