Everton pose serious transfer threat as update emerges on exit-linked £16.9m ace - report

Fiorentina have emerged as a suitor for Everton target Edoardo Bove this summer but have to “be careful” of strong interest from the Premier League, according to Firenze Viola.

The Italian outlet indicate via their website on 8 July that the Roma midfielder could be on the move this summer after seeing his standing fall markedly at the Stadio Olimpico since Jose Mourinho was replaced by Daniele de Rossi.

Dan Friedkin’s Serie A club want €20million to sell [£16.9m], which remains above the Viola’s budget, and although that is not thought to rule out a deal later in the window it is Everton interest above all that seen as a threat from England.

Sky Sports Italia’s Gianluca Di Mario reported on 18 June that the Toffees have already made offers for the 22-year-old midfielder.

Roma may become Everton sister club after a Dan Friedkin takeover

Sean Dyche and Kevin Thelwell may have already secured the signing of Tim Ireogbunam to boost the central midfield options following the departures of Andre Gomes and Dele Alli as their contracts expired.

But with Amadou Onana attracting significant attention [Times, 14 June] and expected to leave Goodison Park this summer [Alan Myers, 14 June] there remains an interest in adding at the position.

The likes of Kalvin Phillips from Manchester City and Matt O’Riley at Celtic are both targets for Everton this summer, with talks held for the latter [HITC, 2 July] while also action appears to have been taken on a possible Bove deal already.

While the proposed Friedkin takeover may not be done in time to impact on the transfer window in a positive sense it may prove to be a stumbling block to the Italian moving from Rome to Merseyside after the UEFA ruling that blocked Manchester United signing Jean-Clair Todibo from INEOS-owned Nice [Telegraph, 5 July].

The Friedkin Group currently own Roma and are in the process of buying Everton.

So if the Toffees remain at the front of the queue of Premier League interest in the Under-21 international the window of opportunity to sign him may be closing as Friedkin and his group move through their due diligence process to potentially buy out Farhad Moshiri.

In other Everton news, the Toffees have responded after another “formal” transfer offer was tabled this summer.
