Everton strongly want English star playing abroad, he could pack his bags now - report

Everton are strongly interested in signing Tammy Abraham, who could be set to leave Roma this summer, according to Corriere Dello Sport.

The newspaper has reported in its print edition [page 10, 12 June] that three other Premier League clubs are also keen on the Englishman – Aston Villa, West Ham United and Leicester City.

Roma are thought to be seeking a fee between £17million and £21million to sell the striker, who could now be ready to pack his bags to move away.

Roma’s eagerness to move on from Abraham does raise questions.

The 26-year-old has only recently recovered from a cruciate ligament injury that robbed him of the majority of the 2023/24 campaign – he managed just 318 minutes in all competitions for the Giallorossi as he was eased back to action.

However, after a dazzling debut year in the Italian capital in which he scored 27 goals across all competitions as Roma won the Europa Conference League, his 2022/23 campaign proved altogether more disappointing, yielding just nine strikes in 54 appearances.

If head coach Sean Dyche can revive Abraham’s goalscoring form, then acquiring the forward for as little as £17m could prove a bargain indeed and increase the Toffees’ limited attacking threat, which is presently far too reliant on Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

The striker does represent something of a risk, though – and Everton can ill-afford to take too many gambles, given their difficult financial situation.
