Everton have been quoted a transfer fee by PSG for Carlos Soler as they battle West Ham United to sign the Spain midfielder, according to Romain Collet-Gaudin.

The European journalist posted on X [23 August] to add that the Toffees as well as West Ham are interested in bringing Soler to the Premier League and PSG want a straight sale rather than a loan.

Collet-Gaudin reports that PSG will consider a sale for a fee in excess of £20.3million, as the French champions create a battle between the two English clubs.

The Soler developments in the past 24-48 hours have been very interesting, with West Ham having seemingly been in pole position with the Spanish international keen on the move.

Now Everton have approached, the battle for his signature could turn out to be music to the ears of the PSG board, who recently splashed out over £50m for teenage starlet Joao Neves and can now dispense with Soler.

Sean Dyche will be eager to replace Amadou Onana, and some of the £50m fee received for the Belgian could be reinvested into a player who has scored four goals in 14 full Spain caps, and played 63 times for PSG in the last two years.

Upon hearing of the 27-year-old’s availability, the Toffees are said to have immediately “made contact” with officials in Paris to try and divert Soler’s route to London with an arrival on Merseyside instead [Florian Plettenburg, 22 August].

Dyche has always been keen on a central midfielder, with links emerging this week over a move for Eintracht Frankfurt man Eric Junior Dina Ebimbe [Fabrice Hawkins, 19 August].

A loan-to-buy bid could also be tabled with Everton looking to get their finances in order, although PSG have made clear their preference.
