Everton transfer round-up: Bid to be submitted for midfielder, Onana latest

Everton remain busy this transfer window with Sean Dyche desperate to strengthen his squad ahead of the 2024-25 season.

The Toffees are now set to part ways with Amadou Onana, with the midfielder likely to depart to Aston Villa for around £50million Fabrizio Romano reported (13 July).

The 22-year-old’s transfer may have a big impact on the Goodison Park outlet’s decision regarding Jarrad Branthwaite, while it ramps up the need for more incomings.

With all of that in mind, Goodison News rounds up all the big transfer news from the past 24 hours.

Everton fans will be thrilled with David Ornstein update as medical booked

Dan Bardell believes Everton will sell Amadou Onana to keep Jarrad Branthwaite after accepting an approach from Aston Villa.

Fabrizio Romano reported on 14 July that the Belgian international will undergo medical tests after his holiday ahead of a £50 million move.

Now David Ornstein has suggested (13 July) that this deal will “all-but end” Manchester United’s pursuit of Branthwaite this summer.

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell thinks that the Toffees would prefer to keep the Englishman rather than Onana.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bardell said: “I think for Everton it’s the lesser of two evils. They won’t want to lose Jarrad Branthwaite or Onana this summer.

Onana was out of the team, at points, towards the end of the season so they can cope without him.

Everton to make official offer soon as player makes transfer decision

Everton are set to make an official offer to Juventus for Arthur Melo “soon” after he made a decision on his future, according to UOL.

Writing on their website (14 July), the Brazilian news outlet reported that Thiago Motta has made it clear the midfielder is not in his plans for next season and has been authorised to find a new club.

The Toffees remain the most interested in his services, and Arthur has decided he will not return to Brazil as he prefers to stay in Europe.

Amir Richardson transfer update shared at Everton amid Reims exit speculation

Alan Myers has admitted he has doubts over whether Everton will move to sign Reims star Amir Richardson during the summer transfer window.

Reports from France had suggested that the Toffees were eager to sign the midfielder ahead of both Leicester City and Udinese with Reims demanding a fee of £8.4million to allow him to depart [L’Equipe, 3 July].

Although the Toffees are keen on the 22-year-old, Sky Sports journalist Myers appears to believe that it is unlikely Sean Dyche’s side will try and bring the midfielder to Goodison Park this summer.

Replying to a supporter on X on Saturday (13 July) who asked: “Do you think we will try for Richardson?”, Myers said: “I doubt it but can’t rule anything out in the transfer window.”

Aston Villa warned transfer hijack possible for Everton ace Amadou Onana

Alan Myers insists it is “always possible” another club could beat Aston Villa to the signing of Everton gem Amadou Onana.

Villa are very close to securing the services of the £50million rated midfielder [Fabrizio Romano, July 14], but several clubs have been previously interested.

With that in mind, Myers suggested that anything is possible until the deal is officially over the line.

Taking to X on Saturday (July 13), the transfer expert wrote: “Always possible until it’s done, there were a number of interested parties, but I would be surprised if he doesn’t end up with Villa, they’ve been after him a while now.”

In other Everton news, the Toffees can now sign a goal machine at a colossal 70-per-cent discount.
