Tottenham Hotspur have set sights on Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez and Brentford’s Ivan Toney as ideal replacements for Harry Kane during this summer transfer window.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track Podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that a striker is a key area of the team that Spurs have been looking to strengthen for some time.
The club failed to properly replace Kane last summer, with Richarlison and Heung min-Son filling in that gap throughout the previous campaign.
Gimenez is a long-term target of Tottenham’s and impressed last season by scoring 23 goals in 30 games in the Eredivisie.
However, Brentford’s Ivan Toney is also seen as Tottenham’s “ideal signing” due to his proven Premier League experience as he wouldn’t need to get used to the league.
Sources say Brentford will let Toney leave this summer if his price tag is met, as the 28-year-old is out of contract next summer.

Tottenham might be focused on signing a striker, but sources say the club could also put Son upfront next season and bring in a wide forward.
However, the club might not have the budget to bring in both a striker and a wide forward in the same window.
Spurs have already spent £40million this summer signing Archie Gray from Leeds United, who can cover various positions.
In other news, Man City have agreed deal to sign Tottenham prodigy.
