Ange Postecoglou should consider handing Leo Black his first-team debut at Tottenham.

It has not been a positive start to the season for the North London side.

Following their 1-0 defeat to Arsenal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday (15 September), Postecoglou’s side have just four points after four matches played.

Therefore, supporters of the club are in desperate need of a lift.

One way that Postecoglou could provide that lift is by bringing through an exciting youth player and handing him his first-team debut at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Fans love nothing more than seeing a player climb through the ranks at the club and make an impact at first-team level. With the UEFA Europa League set to get underway at the end of the month, there will be plenty of opportunities for some of Spurs’ Under-21s to be handed a first-team opportunity.

And one of the players who should be first in line for such an opportunity is Black.

Ange Postecoglou to hand Leo Black first-team debut at Tottenham?

Black was a key player for Spurs’ Under-18s last season.

As a result of his bright form at that level, the youngster has been featuring with the Under-21s this year.

On Tuesday (17 September) the Tottenham Under-21s returned to the Premier League International Cup for the first time since 2018/19, losing 3-1 to Valencia’s Under-21s.

However, despite the defeat, there were positives for Wayne Burnett’s side to take from the match, with midfielder Black opening the scoring.

As per the match report via the Tottenham Hotspur official website (17 September), Black scored a “superb” goal” after 10 minutes as he “embarked on a dazzling solo run into the final third before entering the area and wrong-footing goalkeeper Raul Jimenez with a cool finish to give us the lead in some style.”

Postecoglou is a big fan of midfielders who can chip in with goals.

Therefore, while he is still young, the Australian would be wise to hand Black some first-team minutes during what is set to be a busy few months in North London.

And considering the poor form of players like James Maddison in recent weeks, introducing Black to the fold could shake things up and keep some first-team players on their toes.

In other Tottenham news, one player at the club has been hailed after a multi-million Fabrizio Romano update.
