Expert View: Tottenham could sign forward for £30m less than his worth

Bryan King believes Tottenham could re-sign Marcus Edwards for a bargain fee.

The ex-Spurs scout has questioned whether or not the forward would want to rejoin his former club.

It comes after a report in Football London (31 May) revealed Sporting Lisbon are willing to let Edwards leave for £15million.

Spurs are interested in re-signing the 25-year-old and have a 35 per cent sell-on clause attached to his transfer.

That could see him join Spurs for just £9.7million.

And King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – is surprised by how low the fee is.

“Would Edwards want to join a club where there is already an England international playing in a similar position to him?” King said.

“I am surprised Sporting Lisbon are prepared to let him go for that little.

“I think they could get £40million for him in today’s market.”

Edwards has grown a lot as a player since his time in North London.

He was highly rated while with the club and a lot of fans would likely be excited about his potential return.

The player would come back with a point to prove under Ange Postecoglou.

And for Daniel Levy, he could bring Edwards back to North London for a bargain fee.
