Andy Newport has predictions Rangers’ AGM meeting will be “explosive” with several “burning issues” set to be fired at the “beleaguered” board.

Three wins from three for the Gers has somewhat reduced concerns on the pitch for the time being but questions about the day-to-day running of the club remain prominent.

A recent “betrayal” that cost Rangers millions of pounds when they had to hire Hampden following the delay to work on the Copland Road Stand will be put in the spotlight alongside several other key issues affecting the club off the pitch

The AGM meeting will take place on 5 December at 12:00 pm with journalist Newport expecting a terse meeting when writing his column for the Daily Record (4 December).

“What you can be sure of is that it will be standing room only tomorrow lunchtime when the Ibrox club’s beleaguered board walk out to face the wrath of the Light Blue legions at what’s expected to be an explosive AGM,” Newport said.

“A six-goal drubbing of a team sitting third bottom of the Premiership might have lifted the strain on Philippe Clement’s shoulders. But it’s not going to satisfy those ready to demand answers from the club’s custodians.

“Losses of more than £17million, a stadium mess-up that forced the club to move to Hampden and a rebuild that currently has the club’s title bid on the verge of collapse will be the burning issues up for debate. Clement will argue that the fans who left thousands upon thousands of blue seats sitting empty last night missed out on seeing the show he’s been predicting would come for months.”

Rangers supporters need answers from the hierarchy

Throughout the season, the concerns have certainly been shared across all areas of the clubs from on-field performances to boardroom shenanigans.

Gary Keown recently referred to Rangers as a “basketcase” and, until those issues are addressed, it’s an argument with few doubts.

The Gers recorded losses of over £17m in their most recent accounts and their failure to compete for a league title since 2021 is of great concern.

It’s often underestimated just how much those off-field issues can have a direct impact on team performance and it’s something that supporters will want to get to the bottom of.

Their recent run of wins can’t be allowed to overshadow the deep routing issues at the club that have lasted for several years.

With that said, it is vital that Clement’s side continue their form to have any chance of knocking Celtic off the summit with an 11-point gap still prominent.

In other Rangers news, Steven Naismith highlighted Ianis Hagi in the Gers’ win against Kilmarnock.
