Everton are unlikely to go on a “huge spending spree” this summer despite agreeing a new deal with Castore, according to Dan Plumley.

The Toffees announced [Castore, 14 June] that they have agreed on a new deal with the kit manufacturer, surpassing their previous deal with Hummel in a boost to the club’s finances.

But despite the extra funds, it’s unlikely to help them too much in the transfer window, as Sean Dyche looks to bolster this squad for the 2024/25 campaign.

We’re led to believe this deal is better than the previous one which is always what you’re aiming for,” he exclusively told Goodison News.

“It still won’t be on the scale of the biggest clubs in the league, so there’ll be some sort of relativity to that, but it will still boost your ability to then go and spend if you choose to do so. But it’s not going to shift the dial so much that you’re going to be able to start spending big.

“It’s a boost from a commercial sense for sure, and it might give them a little bit more flex in the market, but even some of the numbers that are being cited there, I just don’t think it shifts the dial massively to be able to go on a huge spending spree this summer.

Everton transfer plans already in motion

After securing a club-record deal with Castore, some fans had been hopeful that the Toffees would be able to spend some extra cash this summer.

But unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be the case, despite the club already confirming the arrival of Tim Iroegbunam permanently, Jack Harrison on loan, and Iliman Ndiaye already completing a medical to sign in a £20million deal.

However, it seems those funds were already in place and the club are still likely to make sales during the summer window to help ease their financial problems.

Jarrad Branthwaite is a target for Manchester United while Amadou Onana is expected to move on, so while it’s a positive to seal a big deal for the kit, it’s unlikely to make too much of a difference for now.
