Friedkin Group send clear transfer message to Roma despite Everton takeover - report

Everton will not usurp Roma as the Friedkin Group’s “priority” amid the impending signing of Enzo Le Fee for the Italian side, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The Italian outlet published in their print edition (10 July, page 9) that Le Fee’s arrival at Stadio Olimpico for roughly £19.5million is a clear message that Roma are still front and centre of the group’s plans.

Dan Friedkin is currently closing his takeover deal to buy the Toffees from Farhad Moshiri, but the amount paid for Le Fee shows they don’t intend to “disengage” with the club they’ve owned since 2020.

Although the Friedkin Group will have plenty of work to do once getting approval to step through the Goodison Park doors, particularly financially, Roma fans will be reassured by their latest transfer commitment [Kieran Maguire, 8 July].

Everton and Roma relationship could grow after Friedkin takeover

It remains to be seen when the Friedkin Group will be give the green light to ratify and complete their takeover of the Blues, having already entered into a period of exclusivity to complete a takeover from Farhad Moshiri.

Cash has already been splashed to the tune of £24million so far at Goodison Park this summer on Iliman Ndiaye and Tim Iroegbunam, but more incomings will be needed to truly bulk out Sean Dyche’s squad [Sky Sports, 3 July].

That may have to wait until after Friedkin has completed his takeover of the club, but shelling out £19.5million on Le Fee alone with Roma shows that the Californian has the capital to make big signings.

Le Fee’s arrival in the Italian capital is good news for fans of both Roma and the Toffees – showcasing that Roma aren’t being left out of the loop and that Everton will soon have much more financial clout [La Repubblica, 22 June].

As well as incomings, keeping the likes of Jarrad Branthwaite, Amadou Onana and Jordan Pickford are also priorities on Merseyside this summer, and Friedkin will certainly be popular if he manages to do so [Fabrizio Romano, 28 June].

In other Everton news, work is well underway to bring in three new signings at Goodison Park.
