Arsenal midfielder Jorginho is wanted by Galatasary after they failed in their bid to sign Manchester United’s Casemiro, according to reports.

The Turkish club are still seeking reinforcements and have until Friday before their transfer window shuts.

Galatasary initially turned their attention to Casemiro, offering the under-fire United midfielder the chance to escape Old Trafford on a season-long loan.

However, the Brazilian is said to have rejected the move and is keen to stay in the Premier League and fight for his place in Erik ten Hag’s side.

Galatasaray, though, have now turned their transfer focus elsewhere, with The Sun reporting that they are considering a move for Arsenal midfielder Jorginho.

The Italian has been an unused substitute for the Gunners’ first three Premier League games and has just one year left on his contract at the Emirates having signed a short-term extension in May earlier this year.

However, despite his limited game time, Arsenal are said to be keen to keep the 32-year-old at the club and will reject any last-minute bids.

Jorginho’s experience has seen him become an important part of Mikel Arteta’s squad and the midfielder could be in line for his first start of the season after the international break.

Declan Rice will miss next Sunday’s North London derby after the red card he picked up against Brighton.

In addition, new summer signing Mikel Merino is set for an untimely spell on the sidelines having suffered a shoulder injury in his first training session with the club.

Jorginho, therefore, could line up in a midfield two alongside Thomas Partey at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Meanwhile, there has been more injury concern for the Gunners over the international break with Riccardo Calafiori forced to withdraw from Italy’s squad.

The 22-year-old suffered a calf injury in the second half of Italy’s 3-1 win away to France in the Nations League on Friday evening and has now returned to Arsenal for further medical tests.
