Gordon Duncan has mocked one Rangers fan after a bizarre comment about the referee’s yellow whistle against Dynamo Kyiv.

Marco Guida has been widely criticised for his decision to send Jefte off at Hampden which eventually led to the Gers being knocked out of the Champions League.

One fan called into Clyde 1 Superscoreboard on 14 August to share about the match official and his reasoning behind the decision.

He said: “I could tell right away that it was all about self-importance for him. This isn’t me nitpicking but who runs around with a yellow whistle, it was all about him last night.”

This left Duncan bemused, replying with: “Let me get this straight. We knew the referee was a wrong’un because he had a yellow whistle?”

Every supporter was frustrated with the result at Hampden which was made worse by the poor decision that went against them.

Jefte went up for a header and won the ball with very limited contact on his man but Guida saw it differently and opted to award the Brazilian a second yellow card.

Although it was extremely disappointing, to assume that there was some sort of conspiracy against the Light Blues is a step too far.

This is especially the case when fans are discussing the colour of the referee’s whistle when discussing his performance on the night.

Assuming that the official would award a decision against Philippe Clement’s side because of a yellow whistle is a strange aspect to pick up on.

Unfortunately, these accusations aren’t going to change the fact that Europa League football will be coming to Ibrox and not the Champions League.

Fans need to move on and swallow the decision against Jefte because it is all in the past now.
