'He Could Be Done' - Keith Wyness speculates Guardiola 'wants to move on from Man City'

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed Man City boss Pep Guardiola could sign a one-year extension despite having “itchy feet”.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs and their boardrooms – insisted the Catalan manager will “ultimately do the right thing for City” despite “showing frustration” in recent months.

Guardiola’s contract is currently set to expire at the end of the 2024-25 campaign.

The 53-year-old has been with the Premier League champions since 2016 and has won six top-flight titles in England.

He has refused to commit to staying at the Etihad Stadium past next year in recent media interviews.

Man City also have the threat of 115 alleged financial breaches hanging over them with a verdict expected to come around the new year.

Guardiola will ‘do the right thing’ for Man City, says Wyness

Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “Pep has been sending out mixed signals recently, positive and negative.

“With Hugo Viana coming in, the way I’m reading it is that he might do another year.

“That then gives Viana the time to settle in and work on the succession plan.

“But then again, I’m seeing Pep getting itchy feet and showing signs that he wants to move on. He’s showing frustration and there are new challenges waiting for him out there.

“He’s starting to feel that he needs to address them, but he will ultimately do the right thing for City.

“It could be that he signs a one-year extension, but he’s certainly signalling that he could be done.

“That’s what we’re coming to right now.”
