Tottenham got themselves back to winning ways this weekend and Aaron Lennon has suggested there’s one player who is absolutely key to Ange Postecoglou’s operation.
Tottenham saw off Brentford 3-1 despite going behind early on and looked back to something like what Postecoglou wants to see from his team.
A first goal for Dominic Solanke was a bonus, while James Maddison and Brennan Johnson also netted welcome goals.

Of course, it was vital for Johnson to keep doing well, while for Solanke, a first goal was crucial for his confidence.
However, according to Lennon, it was the performance and goal from Maddison that caught the eye and according to the former Spurs man, ‘Madders’ is the key man at Tottenham now.
Aaron Lennon says why James Maddison is so crucial for Tottenham
Speaking alongside Gabby Agbonlahor on TalkSPORT, former Spurs winger Lennon was full of praise for Maddison and admitted that if Spurs are to have success, he has to stay fit.
“He has been outstanding all season, to be fair. He started the season like last season, and he is a fantastic player,” Lennon said.
“He is one of those players you love to play with. He makes things happen, he plays forward. He was driving past players, he was reading the game well, lovely finish at the end, but, like you said, if the players in front of him had their shooting boots on, then he could have had three or four assists in that game.
“He is vital to everything that Spurs do, especially going forward. He is a key player, and Spurs need him to stay fit.”
Maddison is crucial for players like Son and Johnson
Tottenham do have some exciting talent in their ranks but in James Maddison, they have that man who can unlock the door at times.
Troy Deeney noted how Maddison ‘turned up’ for Spurs this weekend and as Lennon says here, he is going to be crucial to any success they have.
Tottenham paid £40m for Maddison and he’s not quite looked the same after injury disrupted his campaign last year.
Hopefully, then, that injury is now behind him and he can get back to his very best.
