'His fitness...' - Doctor reacts as Leeds-born striker confirms desire to join Rangers

Rangers may have to factor in Oli McBurnie’s adductor injury and lack of game time last season if they are to sign him, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that as the 28-year-old Scotland international is a free agent after leaving Sheffield United and will not have had a proper pre-season, it’s something any club signing him will need to consider.

This comes after the Leeds-born striker confirmed that he would want a move to Ibrox and play in the Old Firm against Celtic. [Stomping Ground podcast, April 2024]

Discussing his situation exclusively with Ibrox News, Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said:

In terms of his habits, I’d say keep doing what you’re doing and make sure to continue to listen to the fitness and physio teams.

In terms of external, give yourself time to adapt to the new conditions, bring all friends/family if possible to ease the transition, and don’t put too much pressure on yourself.

Any change, even great, comes with some mental anxiety.

In terms of his fitness, he had a torn adductor last season which saw him miss a lot of games last season.

As he’s a free agent, he will not have had a pre-season too so any club signing him will have to factor that in.

Rangers must seal free transfer of Oli McBurnie

Gers should sign McBurnie on a free transfer due to his potential impact and versatility.

As a boyhood Rangers fan, the 28-year-old would bring passion and commitment to the team.

His experience in the English Championship and Premier League, combined with his physicality and eye for goal, make him a strong signing.

As he’s available on a free transfer, there is very little risk involved with this signing.

In other Rangers news, business is expected to move quickly as Gers aim to beat Celtic to sign a Euro 2024 player.
