'Hostile' - Keith Jackson shares what Rangers board think about Dave King

Keith Jackson has shared that the Rangers board are “hostile” towards Dave King as he pushes to return to Ibrox as chairman.

The former Rangers chairman staked his claim on 16 September to replace John Bennett, but his proposal has been met with mixed reactions.

Jackson believes there is “zero chance” of King being welcomed back to the role in Govan, stating if he was serious, he wouldn’t be doing it in the media.

Speaking on the Daily Record’s Hotline Live (16 September) Jackson shared his thoughts on the prospect of King returning to Ibrox.

“The Dave King circus is rolling again,” he said.

“I would imagine that a lot of Rangers fans are tired of it, I would imagine that there will be some out there who look back and think ’55 and Steven Gerrard’.

“I think most sensible Rangers fans would have moved on from that, I think he’s a distraction, I think if he was going to have a serious conversation about becoming chairman that he wouldn’t be doing it through the media.

“But he can’t have this conversation with the board because the board are hostile towards him.

“There is absolutely zero chance that the Rangers board are going to say Dave, in you come”

Rangers board react to Dave King news

Rangers have been through a lot over the last few seasons. Losing the Europa League final and the Ibrox debacle have weighed heavy on the heads of those involved at the club.

Now that Bennett has resigned from his role as chairman, there’s yet another thing for the club to sort all while the on-field performances aren’t where they need to be.

There’s going to come a point where fans lose hope and no matter how many positive messages get shared, if things don’t start coming together and working themselves out, it’s hard to see where the club could possibly go.

With their last game ending in victory, to show fans that progress is being made, Philippe Clement and his men need to perform to the best of their abilities and make this a pivotal part of the season.

If not, the club could find themselves in a rather sticky situation with the boardroom situation needing to be sorted sooner rather than later.
