Rangers have faced “huge pressure” after downsizing in all departments with Creag Robertson also on his way out of the club, according to the Scottish Daily Mail.

The Mail reported in their print edition (9 October, page 69) that Robertson, whose exit is expected to be announced on Wednesday, will see out a contracted notice period and leave before the end of 2024.

Robertson becomes the latest prominent figure to tender their resignation at Ibrox in recent months, after CEO James Bisgrove, academy director Zeb Jacobs, and most recently chairman John Bennett.

Slashing the wage bill by moving on the highest earners and downsizing across the club has created huge pressure, which only looks set to continue.

Rangers hierarchy faces huge pressure at Ibrox again

Stability seems a long way away after the last few months at Ibrox, with sweeping changes made both on and off the pitch beginning something of a new era with the Light Blues.

While the jury remains out on Philippe Clement’s new-look squad – much younger than its previous incarnation and therefore less experienced – many fans will be less optimistic about the goings-on in the boardroom.

Faith in the Ibrox hierarchy appears to be at an all-time low in the wake of a rudderless last few months in Glasgow, with Bennett’s resignation being the culmination of months of stalling progress and controversy.

The club’s forced relocation to Hampden Park after delayed redevelopments at Ibrox is the biggest black mark against the ownership, while the continued CEO and academy vacancies are also a sticking point.

Robertson’s impending departure only adds to interim chairman John Gilligan’s to-do list amid pressure from the inside and outside, but fans won’t have much faith in any of these issues being resolved quickly.

In other Rangers news, Philippe Clement’s priority in the January transfer window has been shared by a prominent Gers blogger.
