David Edgar has made a two-word demand of Rangers after a new Creag Robertson update emerged out of Ibrox this season.
The Light Blues head of football operations has reportedly resigned from his position on the blue half of Glasgow and will leave the club before the end of the year to pursue a new opportunity [Rangers Review, 8 October].
Robertson follows both John Bennett and James Bisgrove out of Ibrox, with both the former chairman and CEO departing recently and Heart and Hand host Edgar has urged the Gers to start replacing the outgoing staff.
Taking to X on Tuesday (8 October) Edgar simply rote: “HIRE FOLK.”
Why has Creag Roberston resigned from his Rangers role at Ibrox?
It is slightly concerning that at this moment Rangers are working without a permanent chairman, without a CEO and will soon be without a head of football operations at Ibrox.
How can the Light Blues be expected to perform on the pitch when they are without so many major players off of it? There has been far too much turmoil behind the scenes at Ibrox for there to be any stability at the football club.
As Edgar suggests, the Gers need to start making some big appointments sooner rather than later. They cannot afford to leave these positions vacant if they do genuinely want to close the gap to Celtic in the Premiership.
Hopefully, the decision-makers at Ibrox will take Edgar’s demands on board and begin making some additions behind the scenes. It had been suggested a new CEO was close to being appointed, but all the talk around that position has once again gone quiet.
Perhaps work has been continuing in silence at Ibrox and all three roles will be filled imminently. It would be a surprise, but that’s what is needed at this stage.
