'I think': Phil Jones now predicts who will win the Premier League between Arsenal and Manchester City

Arsenal and Manchester City face off later today in a clash that could be crucial for the Premier League title race.

The two sides have gone head-to-head in the past two seasons for the biggest prize in English football with City coming out on top both times, though Arsenal came close last year having dropped points in just two league games in 2024.

With Mikel Arteta intent on beating his former mentor Pep Guardiola this season, today’s game will be massive in Arsenal’s bid to win the Premier League for the first time in over 20 years, with Liverpool also in contention.

And former Manchester United defender Phil Jones has now predicted who he thinks will win the title.

Manchester City tipped to beat Arsenal again to the Premier League title

Speaking on Sky Sports, the former England international predicted City to reclaim the Premier League title and beat Arsenal to the top spot for a third year in a row, with Guardiola’s side too experienced in this regard to lose again.

Jones said: “It’s going to be a good game, but I still fancy City to pip them to the title. I think they have got the know-how, they have been there, they know what to do. Pep Guardiola is not going to panic, the players know that, they have been there, they have seen it.”

With Arsenal already dropping points in the Premier League and Martin Odegaard out for some weeks, early signs this season have not been good for the Gunners, who could lose major ground in the title race today at the Etihad Stadium.

Indeed, Arsenal will need to go above and beyond this season if they’re to best City to the title, and today’s clash in Manchester could set the tempo early for how this Premier League campaign pans out for both sides.

Arteta knows the title could be won or lost today

It might seem crazy to suggest that the Premier League title race could be won or lost as early as today, but given how tight the battle for the championship was last season, Arteta will know first-hand how important every win is.

Having already dropped points against Brighton & Hove Albion, Arsenal need to ensure they’re winning every single game if they’re to beat City to the title, and today could be where history is made or not for the Gunners.

A first win at the Etihad in over a decade is the sort of message that will send shockwaves across the Premier League for Arsenal, and Arteta will be hellbent on claiming all three points today in Manchester.
