Jamie O’Hara does not believe Dominic Solanke’s goal should have been disallowed as Tottenham lost 2-1 to Ipswich Town on Sunday.
After going two goals behind to goals from Sammie Szmodics and Liam Delap, the £65million striker thought he grabbed one back from a corner but saw his effort ruled out by VAR.
It was a crucial moment in the defeat at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with the Tractor Boys able to hold out for all three points despite Rodrigo Bentancur halving the deficit with 20 minutes remaining.
Speaking live via Sky Sports News [10 November, 3:10pm], O’Hara said: “Ipswich are looking for a handball. Solanke at the back post, buries it into the bottom corner. I don’t know what they’re moaning about yet. No, you’re not getting that. Definitely a goal.
“I don’t see how you can give that. It hit his arm so they have given a handball, but I don’t think it’s good for the game. The handball is a myth to me. It’s always different rules at different moments.”
Tottenham fall to 2-1 defeat at the hands of Ipswich Town
Ange Postecoglou will be absolutely fuming after watching his side go two goals behind Ipswich, especially after losing 3-2 to Galatasaray in the Europa League during the week.
The performance was miles away from what was expected from them, and they were rightfully punished by a team fighting for Premier League survival this season.
After the international break, Spurs are welcomed back to club football with a trip to the Etihad Stadium to face Manchester City before welcoming AS Roma to North London.
Unless Spurs can get some positive results against these two teams, question marks are bound to be raised over Postecoglou’s future at Hotspur Way.
While many will argue that Solanke’s goal should have stood, Spurs should not have been depending on a single goal from their striker to save them from a defeat against Ipswich.
In other Tottenham news, one flop let down Ange Postecoglou once again after a “really poor” moment v Ipswich Town.
