Jim White has agreed with Simon Jordan after he suggested Celtic’s Champions League progress isn’t benefitting a “declining” Rangers.
The Gers’ Old Firm rivals currently sit 13th in Europe’s elite competition after securing a 3-1 win away against RB Leipzig on Tuesday 5 November.
This puts Brendan Rodgers’ side in a positive position to secure a playoff spot which could see them accrue an additional £830,000 in revenue [UEFA].
Speaking live on talkSPORT on 6 November Jordan has suggested that this won’t benefit the rest of the Scottish Premiership as the Hoops pull away from a struggling Light Blues side.
He said: “What Brendan [Rodgers] is doing is building revenue. They’ll go into the playoffs, and there will be more revenue as a result of that. Celtic get more money. What it doesn’t do is help the rest of the league because Celtic are getting stronger and better and bolder.
“You’re seeing a declining Rangers at this moment in time and an Aberdeen side who we’re all raving about, and rightly so because of what the manager has done, get put in their place at the weekend.”
White agreed, responding instantly: “You’re right.”
Simon Jordan slams Rangers after Celtic Champions League heroics
It will be greatly frustrating to the Ibrox faithful that their most bitter rivals are doing so well in Europe, in the best competition.
The Gers have performed well in the Europa League with results against Malmo and FCSB being positives and a defeat against Lyon being somewhat expected.
This has followed a similar path to Rodgers’ side who have also secured positive results with wins over Leipzig and Slovan Bratislava while suffering a heavy 7-1 defeat against Borussia Dortmund.
Despite this hammering against last year’s Champions League finalists, Celtic are firmly in the playoff spots which could see them bring in additional revenue which will represent a boost.
This could leave Rangers in the dust in the coming months and years as the Hoops could invest these financial gains to improve their squad and operations.
With Philippe Clement already under pressure, it could prove to be damming if their Old Firm rivals pull even further away from them.
In other Rangers news, the Four Lads have urged Philippe Clement to make a change after what they saw against Motherwell.
