'Joke' - Pundit reacts to Daily Record story, blasts Rangers over latest 'Shambles'

Tam McManus branded Rangers a “joke” in reaction to David Gray’s comments on the ticketing situation at Ibrox for the weekend.

The former Hibs striker took to X on 26 September to slam the Light Blues over the latest “shambles”, reacting to a Daily Record story on the Hibees boss’ comments on fan frustration for the trip to Glasgow on Saturday (29 September).

Philippe Clement’s side face Hibs in the early kick off in just their second game back at Ibrox after the Copland Road stand building work debacle and confirmation on the away ticket allocation has not yet been issued.

McManus wrote: “This is a joke another shambles to add to the list at Rangers.”

The Light Blues have opened themselves up for criticism on this issue when they have so obviously mismanaged everything about the Ibrox works in recent months.

Rangers supporters themselves have been more outraged than anyone when the delayed shipments of steel in the summer saw Clement and his players forced to spend the opening weeks of the season playing at Hampden Park.

Getting back to Govan was important, and the effects seemed to be in evidence with a comfortable 3-0 cup win over Dundee on return last weekend.

It is probably little surprise that there are yet more complications now in light of how the past couple of months have played out, especially with the leadership vacuum at the top of the club.

John Gilligan has been drafted in as interim chairman after John Bennett resigned on health grounds, but there remains no chief executive in place after St Mirren’s Jim Gillespie pulled out of advanced talks [Daily Mail, 10 September].

It is clearly a nightmare from a planning perspective for travelling supporters to not have clarity less than 72 hours before kick off.

And, although the circumstances are different, after Hibs announced they would cut the allocation for Rangers at Easter Road [Sky Sports, 12 March] it is yet another unhelpful development for the relationship between the two clubs.

In other Rangers news, a key Light Blues player doesn’t want the important role he has any more.
