Journalist says Tottenham’s ‘underrated’ player could genuinely still leave this summer

Tottenham Hotspur have some business to tend to this summer.

Indeed, Spurs need to make a few new signings, but there are also a handful of sales that need to be sanctioned too.

The likes of Sergio Reguilon and Djed Spence appear not to have a long-term future at Tottenham, and according to Ben Jacobs, speaking on Last Word on Spurs, there’s another potential departure that could come about this summer.

Indeed, the journalist says that Richarlison could still plausibly leave Tottenham during this transfer window, claiming that he’d be surprised if a formal offer from Saudi Arabia didn’t come in for the striker.

Richarlison could still leave Tottenham

Jacobs spoke about the ‘underrated’ player and his chances to leave Spurs.

“I still think Tottenham are looking at a central midfielder, a striker is a really high priority. Striker is a big priority because Richarlison could still plausibly depart and I’d be surprised if there wasn’t a formal Saudi offer for him,” Jacobs said.

“I don’t know if he’ll take it, but Saudi dealmakers are confident there is an opportunity there to be had,” Jacobs said.

Tottenham could upgrade

If Spurs were to receive a big fee for Richarlison from Saudi Arabia, then they could potentially upgrade on him with ease.

Let’s be honest, Richarlison hasn’t exactly set the world alight since signing for Spurs a couple of years ago, and there are other strikers out there with more talent and a higher ceiling.

Of course, these other forwards aren’t cheap, but if the Saudis come in for Richarlison, Spurs should be able to recoup some serious cash for their striker and reinvest in someone else.

Richarlison leaving Tottenham really wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world for Spurs.

Whether or not this move comes to fruition remains to be seen, but it’s certainly one to keep an eye on.
