Journalist shares what Brighton fans sung at 3-0 to mock Everton

Connor O’Neill has shared a chant Brighton and Hove Albion supporters chanted towards their Everton counterparts.

The journalist posted on X [17 August] to reveal a new chant sung by Brighton fans towards the majority of those inside Goodison Park, who were heading for the exits as the Seagulls ran out 3-0 winners to condemn the Toffees to the foot of the table.

It went from bad to worse over the course of the afternoon as Kaoru Mitoma, Danny Welbeck and Simon Adingra scored, compounded by Ashley Young’s straight red card.

O’Neill shared: ‘New ground, in the Championship,’ sing the Brighton supporters just as Simon Adingra slams home a third for the visitors.

“Most Blues supporters are heading for the exits, and you can’t blame them.”

Everton suffer horror start to Premier League season

Regardless of the upstairs chaos which continues to unfold at Everton, both on the pitch and off it, fortunes seemed relatively positive towards the end of last season.

As those of a blue persuasion were hoping to pick up where they left off, it could not have been further from the case as Brighton swept Sean Dyche’s team aside.

The visitors were good value for their win, too – and when Young picked up the red card for a last-man foul, the result was inevitable and Fabian Hurzeler’s side even looked to go four up until a late Yasin Ayari strike was ruled out by VAR.

There will be bumps in the road aplenty for Everton and Dyche will be praying to get key players back quickly, including Jarrad Branthwaite.

The remainder of the transfer window and off-field matters could also dictate the club’s fortunes this term, and the last thing they need is to be losing ground this early in their opening fixtures.
