Aberdeen’s former chief Keith Wyness has insisted he is “getting more concerned about Rangers every week” as they continue without key appointments.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Aberdeen between 2000 and 2004, had lengthy spells as the chief of Everton and Aston Villa and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – insisted the Ibrox club need “big fixes”, and slammed the club’s current board for “tinkering around the edges” by appointing Nils Koppen as technical director.
Rangers announced the surprise promotion of Koppen on Tuesday (November 19), with the 39-year-old taking on responsibility for the club’s men’s academy, medical, football operations, performance, and analysis departments.
The move comes following the departure of Creag Robertson as the Gers’ head of football operations.
As per Football Insider (20 November), Rangers fans have reacted angrily to the appointment – highlighting the fact that Koppen was a scout at the club just five years ago and his lack of experience in the senior role.

The Glasgow giants still have not appointed a permanent long-term chairman and CEO.
Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “Every week that goes by now, I’m getting more concerned about Rangers. I really mean it.
“Every week I don’t see big news from the boardroom about major changes at that level.
“They have promoted someone to be the new technical director, but that’s just tinkering around the edges.
“There are some big fixes that need to come in for Rangers right now.”
