Gary Keown has said that Rangers boss Philippe Clement faces a “big decision” when it comes to new signing Robin Propper.

Clement may be forced to start Propper against Dynamo Kyiv due to injury concerns in the squad. This is despite the fact that the newcomer has had limited training with his teammates since arriving.

It comes on the heels of Rangers drawing their opening game of the Scottish Premiership season with Hearts on Saturday (3 August).

Writing for the Scottish Daily Mail‘s print edition [5 August, pg 60], Keown said: “Clement faces a big decision over whether to start recent arrival Robin Propper at centre-half despite limited training with his new team-mates.”

Robin Propper ready for Rangers start

Propper signed on the dotted line for Rangers last week. Ever since his arrival, there’s been genuine excitement within the fanbase.

The 30-year-old has 12 years of experience as a professional, with his three years at Twente serving as his highest level of active competition.

Towards the end of last season with the club, Propper was turning in consistently strong defensive performances.

Propper really stood up in the second half of last season in particular, making his signing a big coup for the Gers.

Off the back of his displays, Twente managed to edge their way into third place in Eredivisie ahead of AZ Alkmaar.

There are still plenty of unknowns regarding how he can transition to Scottish football. With that being said, he certainly seems to bring a calm, confident demeanour to Auchenhowie.

At the very least, having someone with genuine European experience could prove to be invaluable at a time where Rangers need consistency, and he is therefore surely ready to make his full bow.
