King moots surprise Tottenham exit after £30m transfer speculation

Bryan King has suggested that Pape Matar Sarr could be moved on by Tottenham to make way for Mailk Tillman.

The ex-Spurs scout believes a midfielder would need to be sold to make room for Tillman in North London.

As reported by TBR Football [23 November], Villa and Tottenham are both interested in signing PSV Eindhoven midfielder Tillman. The American made his move to PSV permanent this summer after initially arriving on loan from Bayern Munich.

The Bundesliga giants have a £30million buy-back clause, which PSV could seek from other clubs interested in signing the midfielder.

However, King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes the only way that the 22-year-old could be signed by Ange Postecoglou’s side is if another player were moved on.

“Players of Tillman’s quality don’t come around at that price very often,” King said.

“He has been part of a very successful PSV team over the past two seasons. However, I’d imagine if Spurs were going to bring in this type of player, they’d need to get rid of somebody.

“Therefore, they would have to look to sell at least one of the midfield players. I think it would either be Yves Bissouma or perhaps Sarr who are made available.”

This isn’t the first time that Sarr and Bissouma have been mooted to potentially leave the club.

Spurs have plenty of midfielders in their first-team squad, as well as a talented youngster who is making an impression out on loan.

Therefore, it does seem as though there isn’t much room for any additions in the middle of the park.

As a result, if Tillman was to be signed, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see someone else move on. However, it might perhaps be a surprise if Sarr was that player who was moved on.

The Senegal international is still just 22 years old and looks to have a bright future ahead. Therefore, Spurs would likely want to keep hold of him, and Bissouma could perhaps be the player to make way instead.
