King shares transfer verdict as Tottenham submit player-plus-cash bid for Newcastle star

Bryan King does not believe Tottenham striker Richarlison would be welcome at Newcastle United.

The ex-Spurs scout claims that the 27-year-old would “irritate” supporters at St James’ Park.

As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio (26 June), Tottenham made an offer of Richarlison plus cash to Newcastle for Alexander Isak.

However, King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – claims the offer was never going to be accepted.

“I don’t think Richarlison is a Newcastle player, that is for sure,” King said.

“I think he would irritate those supporters, who have been brought up on top strikers at the club.

“And that includes Isak now, who has proven what a good purchase he was. He has become a bit of a cult hero up there, and he would need replacing.

“I don’t think Richarlison would be the replacement.”

Could Tottenham sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle United?

Isak would be a game-changing addition for Spurs and Ange Postecoglou.

Signing the Swede would be a real statement of intent and would send out a message to the rest of the Premier League.

However, if the club are serious about bringing the striker to North London it would take a much better offer than Richarlison plus some cash.

Isak is likely to command an enormous fee and will be of interest to every top club around Europe.

As a result, it is hard to see Tottenham getting a deal for the 24-year-old across the line.
