Wenham details 'big blow' for Postecoglou at Tottenham after official staff announcement

John Wenham believes Chris Davies leaving Tottenham is a “big blow” for Ange Postecoglou.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose claims the Senior Assistant Coach was rated very highly around Hotspur Way.

Spurs announced via their official website (25 June) that Matt Wells has been promoted to the role of Senior Assistant Coach, with Davies having left the club to take over as first-team manager at EFL League One side Birmingham City.

And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – claims Davies will be difficult to replace.

“Losing Davies to Birmingham City was a big blow for the club,” Wenham said.

“He is someone who Postecoglou rated very highly. From everything I’ve heard, the players rated him very highly too.

“Therefore, that is a blow, and he will be tricky to replace, but Wells is known at the club. He has that Tottenham DNA, with his grandfather being Cliff Jones, a real Tottenham legend.

“Wells has worked with Tottenham a couple of times before, he is someone who will be known and respected around the club, so best of luck to him.”

Ange Postecoglou and Tottenham looking ahead to 2024/25

Preparations for the 2024/25 season will now be in full swing.

There have been some changes behind the scenes, and Postecoglou will therefore want to make sure there is time ahead of the new season to get used to these changes.

It is well and truly a new era at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and supporters will be excited to see what Postecoglou can do in his second full season in charge, with some new coaches behind him.

As a result, all eyes will be on the club in the coming weeks as they gear up for what promises to be a big year in North London.
